Change To eBay Feedback System

August 9th, 2007

I ran across this post on the eBay’s Strategy Blog

In summation, it reports that eBay is now considering “neutral” feedback scores as negatives. From a selling perspective, that concerns me. We try our darndest to ensure all customers have a good experience. Unfortunately there are always going to be people who are unsatisfied. They didn’t have a negative experience, they just weren’t in a particularly good mood and the product wasn’t free.

I personally appreciate receiving a neutral score in situations like that rather than a negative.

Scot Wingo’s article is much more articulate than I can be - if you sell on eBay, I sincerely recommend you read this post

August 8th, 2007

If you are going to be around Queensbury, NY August 11th, then you may want to check out The Warren County Historical Society’s antique appraisal sale. Not only will they be selling antiques, they will also have antique appraisers on hand to analyze your antiques.

The cost per appraisal will be $5.00 for one item and $10.00 for 3. There will also be:

“Selected antique items, donated by society members and friends, as well as a variety of used books, will be available for purchase.”

Should Books Have a Genre?

August 7th, 2007

Here is an interesting discussion from Book Square on whether or not classifying books into genres helps or hurts sales.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

“When I think of book shopping as I think of website shopping, sure, it’s a lousy analogy. You can argue that readers are free to wander the aisles of bookstores with wild abandon. The serendipity factor is alive and well when it comes to human behavior. Of course, it only works if the customer wanders to the specific aisle, specific shelf that houses a book of interest (it also only works if the book is in stock and whatnot). ”
