I ran across this post on the eBay’s Strategy Blog

In summation, it reports that eBay is now considering “neutral” feedback scores as negatives. From a selling perspective, that concerns me. We try our darndest to ensure all customers have a good experience. Unfortunately there are always going to be people who are unsatisfied. They didn’t have a negative experience, they just weren’t in a particularly good mood and the product wasn’t free.

I personally appreciate receiving a neutral score in situations like that rather than a negative.

The serendipity factor is alive and well when it comes to human behavior. Of course, it only works if the customer wanders to the specific aisle, specific shelf that houses a book of interest (it also only works if the book is in stock and whatnot). ”
