Can BookSellers Unite?

July 5th, 2007

Joe Wikert raises an interesting point in his blog post titled: “Independent Booksellers Unite!”.

He proposes a central “shopping cart” site that lists the inventory and provides information about the independent booksellers around the world in order to compete with large chains. Most notably is Amazon.com - publishers and authors see listing their wares on Amazon as a milestone - why couldn’t independent booksellers pool their traffic, help each other out, and potentially topple Amazon?

He goes into more detail regarding his idea and I would encourage everyone to review it - it is definitely a worthy project that could benefit us all!
