Bookfinder has released its list of the most sought after out-of-print books for July 2005-June 2006. I used to love memorizing this list, or at least the price-worthy titles, but book scouting meant something much different back then than it does now…

In business, every company believes they are #1; otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be in business. It is, obviously, a completely subjective assessment, just like the one at the top of your browser right now.
Nevertheless, when you claim to be #1, you usually do so because of the merits of your company and the value added you provide your customers and users. In most cases, you’ve proven to them that you are willing to reinvest in your business, regularly come up with new initiatives, and ensure them that while you’re growing (and increasing prices), that the services you provide are growing and doing the same as well.
Claim to be #1 - you deserve the right to do so. Just be sure you have a reasonable argument to back you up.

Squirl (http://www.squirl.info) is a new website that offers collectors an electronic space to share their “goods.” I’ve spoken with many booksellers in particular who have collections worthy of museum space. This may be a great middle ground for collectors to both share their collections with the rest of the world and probably meet some great new people, of similar interests, at the same time.
Editor’s note: We had such a great response to our post entitled One Shared Tip, One Shared Resource, that I’ve added a new “Potpourri” section for blog posts that may be of interest, but that are not directly related to any part of the online bookselling industry.
